Ok, you now know how to get to Peutie, but what will you see there ?

The following should give you an idea

Lindenstraat (you can see the location on the map in the first post)

Martelarenstraat (you can see the location on the map in the first post)

This is where we walk everyday when letting the dogs out

but we also have 2 other streets :-)

Now that you saw almost all streets of Peutie, you could like some action.
You can choose between our own fitness center or bowling :

Should you have had bad thoughts at the fitness center, you can go for confession at the church of Peutie or ask the priest to see him in his house

Voilà, this should give an idea of Peutie, a nice little town in an ideal location between Antwerp and Brussels

Vilvoorde in het Westen

If you come from the (South-)West you cross Vilvoorde to arrive in Peutie.
The city at the West side of Vilvoorde is Grimbergen (Phil's mother lives just on the frontier of Vilvoorde and Grimbergen).

In the center of Vilvoorde (roundabout in front of the church) we have our 'Boerepaard' (also art work from Rik Poot). This (Brabants trekpaard) is the symbol of Vilvoorde.

If you come to Peutie from the South this means you come from Brussels via Machelen, so this automatically gives another kind of pictures.

De Vuist (the fist) - Enormous piece of art from Rik Poot - referring to the solidarity when the Renault factory was closed in 1997 having a big impact on employment in the Vilvoorde area

Between the 'Steenweg op Peutie' and the '3kastelenstraat' we have a little forest

Kasteel van Ravaart en Kasteel van Huinhoven

When leaving the 'steenweg op Peutie' and entering the '3 kastelenstraat' nobody could image there are some other beauties in Peutie.

Het kasteel van Ravaart was build in 1865 after Anna Detige came back from Algeria.

Het kasteel van Huyhoven was build in 1860 and was/is property of the family de Ribaucourt from Perk (neighbouring town).

The city of Vilvoorde (21 km² - 37.000 inhabitants) consists of Vilvoorde itself and 3 'little' towns (Peutie, Houtem and Koningslo).

Even if it's a 'little town', we have three 'castles' in Peutie, although you can't compare them to the 'châteaux' in France.

The first one is in the 'center' of Peutie - Het kasteel van Batenborch

This castle was property of the Baudequins family as of 1598 but the name 'hof van Batenborch' can already been found back in writings of 1430. In 1478 the 'hof' was named 'castle' for the first time.

Today the property has a surface of 2ha26a and is surrounded by a brick wall, including the park with old trees, the castle with center dated from XVII restaured in XVIII and adapted in XIX and a porter house from XV-XVI.
